Signature of the Week

Since this is the first SOTW in many months, I want to send a reminder to everybody about it. We have started the SOTW voting thread for week #35. If you have entered a signature, you MUST vote for your entry to count. If you did not participate in the contest, you are welcome to vote as well. The more votes we have, the better! A new SOTW starts Monday morning, and voting will last until Monday night.

Remember to check every Friday night and weekend for a voting thread. In some cases we extend the SOTW if we do not have enough entries, but voting will always take place during the weekend. This is VERY important for those that have submitted a signature, since you will not qualify if you do not vote.

Last week was my first week of a new semester, so I did not release any new tutorial updates then. I am hoping to have at least 3 new ones up by tomorrow. If they will not be up by tomorrow, expect them by the usual Friday - Saturday release schedule next week.

Several people have been emailing me about this, so I am making a blog post about it. With the Space Shooter videos finished, I will now move on to the Tower Defense series. It will be a few weeks to finalize the project and start the videos. You will be able to see some videos sometime in October. However, there are a few things on the Advanced Techniques list that I will include in the project (like the upcoming A* path finding tutorial), so those will be before the series begins.

I will also be creating a complete Screen System. I will revamp the ScreenManager, Menu Screens, Menu Entries, and Game Screens. I will add the following to the complete system: popups, input boxes, and warning dialogs. Since these will be completely revamped, all tutorials based on these will be removed and a new one will be done.

We have now started the Signature of the Week competition again. You can check out the thread using the two links below. The style this week is freestyle, so anything goes as long as the standard rules are followed. This has been the first SOTW in many months, so I expect things will be a little slow at the beginning.

Do not forget, you can win a big prize just by participating in the SOTW contest! Every two months we randomly pick three people that participated in the SOTW contest, NOT winners. The more you enter, the more you have a chance of winning the prize. So get participating!
